How-to find Dynamics GP training and networking opportunities?

I don’t know anything about Dynamics GP. I do, though, help run the Dynamics User Group, and I know lots of people in that community still care deeply about GP.

What is Microsoft Dynamics GP?

Microsoft Dynamics GP is a software solution for small to medium-sized businesses. Think of GP as an alternative to QuickBooks, but with a bit more depth. Dynamics GP is one of the few products in the Dynamics suite that is not included in the “Dynamics 365” umbrella of products, as it’s still an on-prem solution, but there are still tons and tons of companies and users using the platform.

Is Dynamics GP dead?

No. Dynamics GP is still alive and well, according to Microsoft. For companies using Microsoft Dynamics GP 18.x, it’s not governed by this lifecycle policy. As you can see in the link, bug fixes, service and support, and tax updates are still provided by Microsoft.

For years, though, people have been wondering if GP is dead. That’s most likely due to the fact Microsoft has said they’ll stop offering new functionality releases and GP also won’t be moving to the cloud. If your business is growing and/or you’d prefer to be on a cloud-based SaaS solution, then Microsoft recommends you move to Dynamics 365 Business Central.

Update. Yes. GP is dead. Read more here. Announcing End of Support for Dynamics GP – Microsoft Dynamics 365 Blog.

Dynamics GP support and updates end September 30, 2029.

Where can I find training?

Back to the main question of the article. Dynamics User Group has thousands of members that are still using GP and plan to continue using GP for the foreseeable future. If you’re looking for training or networking, look no further than what DUG has to offer.

Here’s a playlist of GP videos from DynamicCon Virtual 2021.

Find the nearest local MeetUp to network or discuss GP with other users in your area.

Attend DynamicsCon Live in Chicago, May of 2025.

As you can see, the ecosystem is still alive and well; hopefully you can use some of these links to find more likeminded people to network with and learn from!
