As I mentioned on a recent LinkedIn post, I was disappointed to find that HEIC images from an Apple iPhone couldn’t be included in a PowerPoint presentation.
I looked everywhere for a codec and tried to get PowerPoint to just understand the files. No dice. I spent $0.99 on some app in the Microsoft store, downloaded it, and it didn’t work. I figured I’d instead convert the HEIC files to JPEGs first. Google gave me a bunch of converters, but they all required a purchase or would only do a couple of files before I hit a trial wall.
At that point I gave up and had Claude Code build me a converter instead. This was the prompt.

No warranties. Use at your own risk. It’s entirely AI-built and I didn’t even bother to look at what it does (it uses python). If you want to try it, run it against some photos you don’t care about first before you trust it with anything important.
